Terry Fox Run

After a long, intentional absence from blogging I have decided to return.

On September 18th I will be running in the annual Terry Fox Run, an event to raise money for cancer research. Terry Fox began his Marathon of Hope in 1980 with the dream of raising one dollar from every Canadian. Although I don't remember Terry's original run, I remember learning about him from my mom, and he's always been one of my heroes. I ran in the Terry Fox Run many times as a child, and in University as well (well, more biking and rollerblading than running).

The vent obviously takes on a special meaning for me this year. I’m asking you, if you’re able, to pledge a donation for the Run. You can pledge online or just let me know if you want to make a donation by cash, cheque, etc.

Four months before his death his dream was realized with $24 million in donations. To date over $360 million has been raised. All money raised is given by the Terry Fox Foundation to the National Cancer Institute of Canada for cancer research. For more information go to http://www.terryfoxrun.org/

I’d like to thank all of you who have pledged already, and everyone who has put this up on their site (before me!). If any one else is participating in the run, have fun!
